If you’re anything like I was when I first started, the idea of crafting a dazzling gemstone can feel overwhelming. But the truth is - you don’t need to be a natural artist to begin creating something beautiful. Faceted gemstones are a blend of art, science, and precision, and can be learned step by step. Modern faceting machines have made the process more accessible than ever, removing many of the barriers that once made this craft feel out of reach. Still, true precision and consistency take many hours of training and practice - practice really does make perfect. With years of hands-on experience across different areas of the trade, this journey led me to establish First Gemcutting Academy Dubai. Traditionally passed down through families, I wanted to make this craft accessible to anyone with a genuine passion for gemstones and craftsmanship, and leave something meaningful behind.

Officially Amazing
The rough Hauyne was discovered in Afghanistan and stood out due to its unusually large size. The Master Gemcutter himself shaped and faceted the gemstone. Due to its fragile nature, the stone had to be handled with exceptional care, resulting in a precisely crafted round brilliant cut. Its intense blue color is mesmerizing, but when exposed to UV light, it transforms into something truly unexpected. This is the story of a gemstone dedicated to Miss Siridian, whose name carries the meaning “the beautiful moon” — a meaning that reflects the beauty of the stone perfectly.
Normal Light Condition / Under UV Light
Following this achievement, two more Hauyne gemstones were created and received Guinness World Record recognition. One was named “Saida-Hauyne”, while the other was called “Heart of Dubai”, symbolizing the Master’s gratitude to Dubai.
The “Heart of Dubai” is planned to be donated to the soon-to-open Dubai Museum of Art (DUMA).

I would like to achieve a feeling of infinite satisfaction. I would like to leave behind something valuable; something that people will look at with astonishment and joy, something that will make my children and further generations proud. With God's help, they will become part of my gemstone and diamond dream as one life is not enough for this dream. Others will have to carry it on to give it a real purpose and make my story part of the honored tradition.
Filip Mlynarcik is a gemstone and diamond craftsman from Slovakia with over three decades of experience in the industry. Known for his exceptional precision and control, he has dedicated his career to creating unique, high-quality pieces and refining every aspect of the craft.
He is also recognized for a rare ambidextrous skill - cutting gemstones with his right hand and diamonds with his left - showing a level of coordination and mastery that sets him apart in the field.
His work reflects a lifelong pursuit of precision, detail, and excellence in every stage of gemstone creation.
